CNA Training Schools for Aspiring Caregivers

In today’s fast-paced society where unemployment is a constantly worrying factor, more and more people are looking to earn a supplementary income as healthcare providers as there is always a vacancy for this job.  To meet this need, CNA training schools have blossomed in every state and encourage people to take up this noble profession.

Anyone who wishes to qualify for this job should be able to assist, clean, dress and look after a sick, elderly or disabled patient  who has met with an accident, undergone a serious operation and requires remedial help. As a caregiver, you  should also be physically fit as the job will entail lifting and shifting the patient when necessary.

CNA Certification Schools

Online CNA certification schools, Community Colleges, Universities and Career Schools such as the Red Cross offer accredited certification for Nurse Aides after they pass the exams.  You should ideally complete about 3 months or 120 hours of learning the subject included in the syllabus. This includes both theoretical as well as practical lessons, where all students get hands-on experience dealing with patients.

The Chamberlain College of Nursing offers Bachelor of Science and Masters in Science of Nursing.  Similarly, other universities such as Kaplan University, Capella, Walden, University of Cincinnati and others offer CNA training classes.  Some of these Universities, such as University of Cinncinati, Capella and others also offer Online Programs.  It is important that you should check out the accreditation and see if it applies to the State where you would like to work.

CNA Certification Programs

Hospital and nursing homes offer CNA certification programs to their employees who commit to working for them for a stipulated period agreed upon by both parties.  Sometimes, healthcare facilities may offer to pay for the program by allowing you to work with them without pay for a certain period.  The Red Cross has 36 branches all over different states where anyone interested could pay and enroll. There are several online cna programs which offer accredited courses.  It is necessary to ensure that that the certification is approved by the State Board of Nursing and the Nursing Aide Registry.

CNA Rectification

To be eligible for joining CNA classes, you will have to first pass a basic written test.  This can be done online.  There is a waiting period in case you do not pass in the first attempt.  Once you complete the course and pass the exam, you should  check whether the CNA certification is valid in the State where you plan to work.  Some States have a local license that they expect the employee to possess.

It may be necessary to transfer the license and certificate from where you passed the examination.  Some states have reciprocity arrangements which allow them to approve of the license of another state.  In this case, you may not need to redo the examination. Renewal of the license has to be done regularly.  The CNA is informed well in advance that their license is up for renewal and this may involve CNA rectification to revalidate the license for a few more years.
