CNA Practice Test: Prepare For The CNA Exam

When you are studying for your CNA certification you need to complete at least one CNA practice test although it is best to complete as many as possible.  It really doesn’t matter whether you are taking the certified nursing assistant certification exam or the final year exam in medical school, your exam technique is very important.

Exam nerves have caused more than one student to fail an exam even if they had studied properly.  You cannot completely cure exam stress but you can do a lot to minimize its adverse impact on your performance.  Preparation is the key to success so start studying as early as possible.  Even if you think you already know the course material do not leave all of your CNA exam preparation to the last minute.

Become familiar with the format of the CNA certification exam. There is nothing worse than going into an examination expecting one thing and finding another.  Some people go into the CNA certification expecting an oral examination only to be faced with a multiple choice questionnaire.

Where to Find a CNA practice test exam?

Ask your tutors for a copy of a CNA practice test exam. If you elected to attend local CNA classes, your instructor will be able to give you a clear outline of the exam you will be sitting.  It will probably be divided between a practical assessment of your nursing assistant skills and a written exam comprising of up to 100 multiple choice questions.  These questions can cover any part of the exam syllabus but you’re likely to find that all areas are covered.

You should have studied the CNA course materials and be in a good position to answer questions. Your course materials should be dividing into four main areas being:

1) Activities of daily living

2) Basic nursing skills

3) Psychosocial needs of patients

4) The key requirements of the role of nursing aide

Take the CNA practice tests under exam conditions so that you will learn where your area of weakness is.  Some people will work more closely with patients than others so may be very familiar with the issues relating to activities of daily living but be less involved with the legal issues covered by the key requirements section of the syllabus.

The more CNA practice test exams you complete the more familiar you will become with the CNA training course material and your chance of passing your exam will increase considerably.

Do CNA test questions differ from State to State?

Although the role of a certified nursing assistant in similar in all States in the USA the CNA test questions can differ slightly from one State to another.  One area where discrepancies are most likely is in relation to the legal issues covering patient care.  State regulations can differ and it is very important that you have studied those relating to the State in which you will sit your exam. It is worth noting that if you move to another state to find work you may have to sit an additional state certification exam.
